Senior Lab Engineer

Position:

The Lab Engineer will work as an R&D team member in a fast paced product development organization. Testing responsibilities will often span the entire product engineering life cycle from initial product feasibility to life testing.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and executing novel lab test methods appropriate for a given component or product in support of initial product feasibility, product development and life testing;
  • Designing, building and debugging electromechanical test fixtures;
  • Setting up, maintaining and operating computer data acquisition hardware and software (e.g. LabView) in a Windows environment;
  • Organize and analyze collected data, draw conclusions and write and present reports to other team members;
  • Maintain testing data base;
  • Recommending and purchasing lab test equipment as needed.

Typical tests will be for characterizing the mechanical, electrical and fluidic performance
of Influent's new miniature fluid movers, such as pulsed air sources, compressors,
blowers and liquid pumps.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • The successful candidate will be a results and goal oriented individual with excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills.
  • The candidate's background will include a history of successful product launches for electro-mechanical products such as ink jet products, printers, miniature pumps and compressors or medical devices.
  • The candidate must be able to work autonomously and be able to multitask with multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • He/She must have a proven record of working collaboratively with other product development team members from various engineering disciplines.
  • Proficiency with computer data acquisition hardware and software such as LabView is essential.
  • He/She will preferably have significant experience in accelerated life/reliability testing of electro-mechanical products.
  • A solid understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles is required.

Education:

Engineering Masters or Bachelor's degree (ME or EE preferred) combined with appropriate industry experience. Training and/or experience in project management a plus.
